I know everyone's probably busy with work/thesis right now, but I'd like to know what everyone's plan is for Luppi's wedding that's coming in the next two weeks? take some time to answer the following questions ya, thank you! ^^

1. Are you going?

2. How are you going?

3. When do you plan to go?

I'm asking the third question because we have a few options:

The initial walimah is on Friday in Dungun. Luppi's walimah is in KT, on Saturday. Not to point out the obvious, tapi kalau kita attend walimah Dungun, it's possible to go and come back (to KL ya) on the same day. BUT, obviously I want to go to the one in KT. Kalau walimah KT, we'll have to stay the night there, which means, bertolak ke KT (again dr KL) Sabtu pagi, stay in KT one night, balik Ahad...? Larat ke kita nak berjalan dr KL all the way to KT on Saturday morning? Yang lagi important, sempat ke?

As you can see, there are quite a few things to consider. So, I need your feedback ASAP ya, so that we can start arranging transport, accommodations, etc.

Ok HF nak ucap sangat yang korang semua beruntung dapat baca entry ni sebab ini adalah siaran pertama HF Live dan Exclusive!!!! No abusive occayssss....

I sebenarnya sakit hati sangat dengan sorang mamat tu. I ingat I sorang ajer yang pakar main sembunyi-sembunyi sorok-sorok rahsia. Yer lah...I dulu lagi 4 hari nak disunting orang...ops...menyunting orang baru I buat pengumuman. Dan I boleh tengok lah semua orang dok drop jaw...terkejut.

Tapi mamat tu aderlah dia nak Bertunang dulu baru nak buat official statement. Makan hati aiii....padan muka I, baru I tau, masing-masing sekarang dah pandai nak kontrobesi dengan I.

Ni ada satu lagi cerita panazzzzzzzzzz punya. Cerita aweksss pulak.

Sakit hati punya tahap, I ambik pen cucuk cucuk jantung panda bear I nih, lansung tak terasa tahap tak sakit jantung I (faham tak I buat lawak kat sini).

Tup tup...tak ader angin goncang, tak der tanah runtuh......turun hujan lebat bawa berita rahmat. Sempoi dok ada.....dia nak NIKAH terus. Kelasssss...kau maria.

Eeeee...geram I bila I tau yang gangs Foxy Gurls semua dah tau berita sensasi ni....tunggu I jumpa nanti I kasi cili semua orang.....

Trip to Terengganu: Update

Salam BTB members..

Everyone's been asking about the Terengganu trip at the end of this month, I just had to put it up here for info:

For now, yang akak tahu Yati & Sitot tak dapat cuti. Jadinya, diaorang akan bertolak ke Terengganu on Friday, 23rd December, lepas kerja. They are still debating whether they should drive up to KT, or take a flight. Sitot akan balik semula ke KL hari sabtu tu jugak, Yati will be staying until..?

Akak tengah buat appointment untuk jumpa Dr. Jalal that same Friday kat Kuantan, So my trip to Terengganu might start a little earlier, around Thursday evening? Pura start cuti hari Jumaat, so I have to wait for her to get off work first on Thursday. Ann akan convoy sekali dengan akak, anyone else wanna join us?

Cadangannya ialah semua yang dekat KL meet in Kuantan by Friday night, and then convoy ramai2 ke KT Sabtu pagi. Er, Majlis Nurul pukul berapa ek? we should be there around 12pm if we move by 8am, no? Is noon too late?

Pojan & family, Luppi and Mun, what are your plans? Transport wise, don't think my mom is generous enough to lend me her Myvi this time, so I'm counting on Ann's Viva at this point. Kalau takde gak, mungkin akan sewa kereta la kut. Ann's car can fit 4 people, and since this is long distance travel, I'm sticking to the limit, sorry guys.. :(

Er, Luppi ada kereta tak? ;p

By the way, selain Sitot, how long is everyone else planning to stay in KT? We need to think about accommodations, sebab ni time peak season (it's Christmas!). Kebanyakan hotel tak ada vacancy, dan kalau ada pun, bound to be expensive.. Any suggestions? We need to do this soon.. lagi dekat tarikh dia, lagi susah nak cari tempat.

Kalau tak, kita camping je la ramai2 kat pantai Batu Buruk tu.. Tengkujuh be damned! XD

Besides, it's a lot more fun when we're all gathered anywhere else but KL..

How's everyone? I hope that each and everyone are fine and enjoying life at the fullest, no matter how happy or bad your days. Believe me, God always work clandestinely. Today you might be getting a strawberry candy, or maybe a cut of cheese cake for the other day.

I have to admit that I was really taken aback with all of the members of this blog. I was expected that someone will come out with a fancy entry, or perhaps short memo for my birthday, however my dreams availed me nothing.

Mark my word - was.

Later, I realized that wishing birthday isn't reliable anymore for me, as in I didn't bother to wish or remember anyone's before, not even my mother's. I am sorry. Frankly speaking, I only remember Lutfi's and Arshana's birthday (Lutfi was born 2 months after my existence, and Arshana is an Xmas girl).

I am Virgo. Darn the bimbo side of me.

Trip to Japan

I thought I'd have the chance to chat with the girls on our recent get together, but as always, the Gotfather is forever tormented by family members who can't seem to live without her for just a couple of hours.. (=_=)

Anyway, I actually wanted to have a discussion about Japan with you guys. I've been looking for more info on the trip, when I realized I need some info from you to make this work. I'll tell you right now, planning this one isn't easy. Japan is not the cheapest place to go for a holiday..

But it's a wonderful country worth visiting, and we have a good friend that side who's dying to show us ~~off~~ around! ^^

So, I need you guys to answer these few questions ya:

1. Hangpa interested nak pi dak?

2. Agak-agak bila nak pi tuh? - akak kasi choice..

a. Winter - Jan-March 2012 - maha sejuk, ada snow & festivals
b. Spring - April-Jun 2012 - banyak bunga, musim hujan, festivals (sakura, anyone?)
c. Summer - July-Aug 2012 - Paneh! personally not my favorite season.
d. Fall - Sept-Nov 2012 - Musim daun gugur, ala2 romantik autumn in my heart gitu.

3. Bape korang laghat nak bayar? - Be reasonable.. this is an overseas trip, people.

4. How long do you think we should stay? - takat 2 -3 hari tak berbaloi kut.

5. Air Asia, atau MAS/ANA/JAL/KOA/etc? - Ni ada pros and cons, tapi pilih je dulu..

6. Sebab kita ramai, korang rasa kita patut pakai travel agent tak? Korang kenal ke mana2 travel agent?

My entire family has come down with a terrible case of the flu, but I've been told it's a typical occurrence after a trip to the Middle East, so no worries.

Biotech-to-Be 2011 Reunion with Family & Friends

The reunion is three-pronged: to celebrate the return of our long missed friend from Japan and Scotland; Arshana and Isma, to officially welcome the newest members of our family, Hidayah & Azkiya of Pojan's brood, and to warm my new place and basically to cherish ourselves with good food and great conversations.

Who: Everyone who studied biotechnology at UIA, and anyone else who you'd like to bring along.

Time: BBQ starts at 2 p.m., but preparation begins in the morning.

Venue: My place, address as stated above.

How do I get there?: Take Kajang Silk, after the Plaza Tol Sg. Ramal, take the first exit towards Jalan Wan Siew.

What's on the menu?: Chicken skewers with mushroom and onion, pasta & potato salad, and cheese & crackers and other lots of stuffs.

Total RNA extraction Lopez–Gomez & Gomez-Lim. Nak pahamkan method nye ajer dah naik pening belum sebut lagi nak prepare reagents. It’s a manual extraction to begin with and it took about 3 days to get the result. Terpikir dan terus bertanya; why don’t we use the extraction kits instead? Co-sv replied; you will never learn anything. Oh well, actually I don’t give a damn about learning anything. Really... really... wanna finish the labworks.

Minggu pertama di lab baru dah mcm2 dugaan. Selain daripada postgrade students yang ‘berat mulut’ nak berkongsi, perangai undergrade students yang suka bergurau senda setiap masa wpun ketika bekerja ngan EtBr, tiada space untuk menulis apatah lagi untuk duduk rehat di bilik postgrade, makmal yang dibanggakan yuu key emm ini juga tergendala air-cond nya. Semua nya merimaskan!

Paling membuatkan rasa lebih cepat siap lebih baik insiden ketika sedang menyediakan larutan fenol (phenol solution). Puas membelek chemicals depan mata, yang terjumpa hanya phenol in white crystal form bukan dalam larutan seperti selalu. Emm..mcm mana yerk nak buat ni? Tertanya2 dalam hati sambil mata mencari postgrade student yang pernah melakukan method yang sama. Budak baru belajar lebih baik bertanya daripada buat kerja membabi buta. Macam mana yea nak wat solution phenol ni? Student Msc tersebut menjawab selamba; biasanya kitaorg timbang dulu pastu dissolve je la. Belum sempat bertanya lebih detail, dia dah blah meninggalkan.

Otak mula berkira2. Dissolve? Dalam solvent tertentu atau dlm air? Aiseh apsal tak ingat hah ms blaja organic chem. Takpe internet kan ada. Ahah..! Phenol dissolves in water moderately and form two layers. Dengan best nya, fenol berjaya dilarutkan. Timbul plak problem baru, nnt masa nak extract nak amik upper layer or bottom layer? Aduhh..ni yang wat tensen. Istilah budak baru belajar, mencari2 seseorang untuk diwawancara. Err..sorry eh. Lepas larutkan fenol nnt kena amik which layer for RNA extraction? Student phD memandang; lapisan atas. Owhh..thanks. Sedang berkira2 menuang kloroform, Student phD tersebut masuk ke lab. Ehh..you buat apa ni? Cepat je mulut berkata. Phenol solution. Kita tak buat phenol mcm ni maa...it’s equilibrated phenol. We used tris-HCL. Terkesima kejap. What?? Mahu jer mulut bercakap, **** tak kata ia equilibrated phenol, but then erm..tak pe lah, malas nak memanjangkan citer. Student phD tersebut memberi method equilibrated phenol. Agak banyak solution tris-HCl dengan molarity yg berbeza perlu dibuat.

Bekerjasama dengan student MSc yg baru, kebetulan menggunakan method isolasi yg sama membahagikan tugas. Dia sediakan tris dengan molarity berbeza manakala aku mencairkan fenol dlm waterbath. Hati ingin menduga students di makmal ini. Sekali lagi bertanya pada students MSc yang sama. Biasa nya kalo nak cairkan fenol, letak dalam apa? Dia menjawab. **** biasa nya timbang pastu letak dlm botol. Jangan campur dengan air. Lantas, schoot 1L menjadi pilihan di dlm waterbath sambil memasukkan fenol sedikit demi sedikit. Opps.. phenol can caused burn injury if they contacted with human skin. Student phD yang sama datang mendekati. Ehh..you buat apa ni? Ringkas menjawab. Larutkan fenol. Kenapa ehh you wat camni, bahaya maa kalo fenol kena kat kulit you nnt terbakar! Lantang suara nya semua students yang ada mendengar. Perasaan bengang bercampur malu. Annoyed pun ada skali. Bukan nya dilakukan sambil bergelak ketawa tanpa gloves and labcoat. Dalam fume hood lagi. Dah nak wat camne!?

Lantaran kebengangan, keputusan melarutkan fenol dilakukan dengan memasukkan sebotol chemical phenol sekali gus dlm waterbath. Huhh..amik sebijik!!..agaknya jelas terpamer kat muka, student Msc baru berkata. Kenapa diaorg tak bgtau awal2? Ni dah buat baru nak cakap. Hati berkira2 agaknya sebab diorg dah expert dan tak nak berkongsi tapi alhamdulillah, equilibrated phenol berjaya dihasilkan berkat kesabaran. Tapi selalu berdoa agar lebih sabar mengendali attitude students di makmal ini berbanding bebanan labwork itu sendiri.

Dimaklumkan yang para saintis USM sedang berusaha untuk menanam chip memori berkuasa lebih bagus dari kuda ke dalam badan saya. Mengikut laporan terbaru, project tersebut yang dibiayai oleh Geran F&N sepenuhnya telah mencapai proses akhir kajian.

Penanaman chip ini adalah bertujuan untuk mengatasi masaalah keciciran telefon genggam yang amat kronik. Untuk rekod, kes kehilangan ini adalah untuk kali yang ke 3 dalam sejarah peradaban dunia mengikut fakta-fakta yang anti-Darwinism. Masaalah ini lebih pendemic apabila wajah saya sekarang makin popular di kompleks-kompleks membeli belah terkemuka di Kota Bharu, iaitu KB Mall. Abang yang menjual handset menjadi sangat bosan dengan saya kerana tiada pilihan selain melayan soalan saya yang amat klise;

"Abang, boleh tolong jual pada saya telefon genggam yang paling murah?"

Dengan pandangan hina, abang tersebut akan dengan kasarnya menunjukkan jenama telefon yang paling kodi seMalaya. Antaranya adalah Nokia Basic, atau yang terbaru, abang tersebut akan menjaja secara pukal telefon jenama CSL.

Oh, tidak ketinggalan, pekerja-pekerja Celcom juga seharusnya sudah cukup confuse untuk membezakan saya sebagai pekerja atau pelanggan, di sebabkan kekerapan menghadiri Celcom Center terdekat.

Saya berharap sanagt project chip ciptaan Prof Azkiya ini berjaya, dan ini secara tidak langsung dapat mengembalikan semangat dan keyakinan diri secara berseloroh untuk memiliki telefon canggih seperti HTC.

Maaflah, saya tidak berminat pada iPhone setelah membuat kajian ringkas.

Maaf juga kerana saya mungkin telah mengspoilkan mood korang secara bersistematik sejak korang semua hantar wish untuk kelahiran Azkiya, ucapan hari raya dan juga ucapan hari lahir. Memang banyak saya dapat sms masuk (bukan undi AF masuk tau), tapi saya mengalami sindrom keralatan untuk mereply disebabkan nombor-nombor yang tertera kebanyakan seolah-olah kod-kod rahsia yang dihantar oleh Anonymous.

Saya ada cadangan;

Just wanna share 'tiny fragments' from my first poster presentation.

It was 35th annual conference of the M'sian Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. I'm taking part in poster presentation. Clueless as always but i meet great people there as well as great foods (of course lah!).

Sustainable drugs, natural products, cancers were the most topics focused on during this conference. Well, i listened to most of it and tryin' not to listen to mp3 sambil berangan.

When i saw other posters/oral presenters, i just felt that my research was insignificant. Tiny and almost nothing. Dah mula cuak ngan masa depan sndr. Seriously, they were all good. Damn good. It just like my research was nothing compared to their research, lagi cuak bila dpt tau diaorg pun MSc. Gahhh...betik oh betik!

Assalamu'alaikum muni, yati, kak opie, sitot dan che ann (sebut yang ada kat malaysia je ya)!

Ahad sampai selasa nexwik, saya ada kat UPM Serdang. Tidur kat SMART Hotel (hotel bajet je, jimat duit kerajaan..hehe) sorang-sorang.. Ni jadual hidup saya.

Ahad petang register. Setiap malam free..kuikui
Isnin siang jadual penuh.malam ada dinner tapi tak nak join la.
Selasa sampai tengahari je. Then free. Balik Terengganu malamnya.

Jika ada seiapa yang free boleh jumpa. Tapi tula, korang semua keje kan~~ huhu.

Terpaksa guna blog nak inform sebab bateri handphone kong. Pastu takde charger kat rumah. Tak sempat lagi nak beli baru...hihi.

There comes a point in your work life when you're swamped with works and redundant tasks, starting off in the morning drives you with anxiety and to the point of a manic depression. How do you deal with it?

How do you clear the clutter in your mind and go within yourself to get that calming "I'm-in-control" feeling?

Especially when you're so tired the night before you always end up waking up at mere 7 a.m. and before you know it you're so rushed to start your day again you don't realize when exactly did it begins? In between work, I'm still searching and scrambling how can I find my ways back to get a hold of my emotional and spiritual self.

I hate talking about changes, but evolution seems to be the most precise word to describe us. Despite the many people against Darwin’s theory, I personally believe in microevolution. One complicated, random process plus environmental factors and poof~ we evolve!

In truth, we all do it to survive.

For example, I haven’t noticed it before, but last weekend I realized Yati has a big black mole on her left cheek. I guess she picked it up from Aussie. Did you, Yati?

Munirah.. I noticed that she's vocally loud these days. In certain discussions, she will either speak up loudly or remain silent in disagreement. I was really shocked by her reactions, but hey, I trust her. She knows something. Or she must be up to something. God knows. I think she'll be a good presenter when she joins a conference.

Azhane. A Yuna to be? I personally think she has a good sense of fashion. A fashionista wanna be? She looks good. Damn good! On a personal note, I think everyone has learnt that baju kurungs are only suitable for classes! :0

Last year, during my summer vacation I applied to three following posts:
1. An internship with Global Povery Project
2. Shell Gourami Business Challenge
3. Next Generation APEN (Australia-Pacific Extension Network) Scholarship to attend their 2009 International Conference

The responses were all the same, "Whilst your application was of high quality and extremely relevant, you have been unsuccessful on this occasion" - if they're not disheartening, I'm not sure what they are.

I'm on the same cycle again, this time for a permanent employment opportunity. So far I've applied to six posts, and I haven't received any feedback yet. To tell the truth, I am rather nervous to accept rejection yet again.

But try I must, and faith I must have.

Sorry for the delay guys. Sangat sibuk tak ada masa nak duduk menulis. End of the year is always a busy time. Lit review, labwork, thesis.. yeah, I'm currently reviewing a Masters thesis draft for a friend, three very long chapters on bat ecology and distribution. Akak volunteer just to know more about bats..

Anyway, about the trip..

Erm, kita dah decide nak tunda ke bulan Januari hari tu. Well, sekarang dah pun Disember, and we need to figure out when we'd like to go in January, so that I can book us a venue. Imbas kembali: kita nak duduk tepi pantai kan? Like I said there are a few possible places, tapi bukan hotel lima bintang la.. ala, asal bley tidur da la kan? Kalau korang dah survive Pergau, Pulau Pinang should be no prob.. ^^

To make it more dramatic, the fees for my first 2 semesters (Dis 08-Dis 09) i gotta used MY OWN MONEY!!!

Akak tau semua orang sangat sibuk sekarang ni. Maklum la, dah akhir tahun. Mesti banyak yang nak kena settle. Nak siapkan projek; nak sedia untuk finals students-students korang yang ramai tuh; nak settlekan research dan report akhir tahun. Macam-macam songeh..

Anyway..

Minggu lepas akak ke Penang for official purposes - if you've read my blog, you'd know how that went (-___-) - and akak sempat gak usya a few of the places. In a few short words: Penang is SO worth it! ^^ Tempat dia sangat cantik, and lots of places to visit. Akak serius cadangkan kita duduk kat Batu Feringghi. The view is.. Subhanallah! Kut tak percaya, mintak Ann hantar MMS satu. (Punya la dia kemaruk amik gambar pantai aritu.. kan Ann? ^^)

I've been scouting some budget motels and guest houses around the area. There's a few of them yang betul-betul kat pantai, and they're quite cheap. Anywhere from RM30 - RM80 per night (depending on room size, utilities and number of people). But, like all good things, they won't stay available for long. Kalau kita tak buat booking awal-awal, tepi pantai won't be an option..

So, this is the end of October. Kita cadang nak bercuti in Disember. Kalau boleh, akak minta kerjasama semua untuk bagi tentative date dulu. And by this I mean specific dates, people.. akak tamau ada yang bagitau, "Awal bulan/tengah bulan/hujung bulan, saya free Kak Sofie!"

I want, "Akak, pada sekian haribulan, sampai sekian haribulan, saya free! Sekian." Bleh? ^^

I know this is asking a lot. Korang sibuk, akak pun sibuk. Akak boleh organize, no problem. Tapi nak kena minta kerjasama semua, ya?

I will post up a list of interesting places to visit in Penang and their entry fees later on, so korang boleh pilih mana satu tempat nak pi, ikut sesedap bajet korang la, kay?

Alright, next step... I'm forming a consensus of what you guys want based on the answers you gave on the comment post. And they are:

1. Budget should stay at or below RM300.

Um, does this include food? Keep in mind guys that food - as abundant as it is in Penang - will be expensive. Biasa la kan, tourist town.. To take some of that burden off, Kak Sofie plans to sponsor the BBQ. In her mind she's thinking chicken, sausages, hash browns, potato salad, fried macaroni, and a surprise treat... iidesuka? ^^ (Note: You guys CANNOT say NO to this. I'm the organiser! I do whatever I please, LOL!)

2. Two to three nights sounds good for a vacation.

I'm leaning more to three nights.. Lagi banyak masa nak foya-foya ngan korang! Lagipun kalau dua malam, the first day will be spent just getting there. Penat, tak aci! As for the dates, please let me know ASAP ya. I personally can't do the 12th of December. Sepupu kahwin..

3. Ramai yang nak duduk tepi pantai.

Sebab kita dah decide taknak masak sangat, akak cadangkan kita duduk motel tepi pantai la. Senang nak bbq, buat aktiviti. There are many of them, and some are cheap. How does RM30 per person per day sounds? It's the cheapest I've gotten so far. I'll try to find more, but many are booking up fast... so again, I need to confirm dates ASAP!

4. Soalan 4 ngan 5 rujuk atas. Selain pada tu, tak ada lain dah kan. Or is there?

Apa yang tak puas hati, atau tak setuju, tolong la cakap. Akak nak semua orang enjoy kat sana nanti. Let me know now if there are any problems..

Cuti-Cuti Malaysia!

Kengkawan yang dikasihi, kalau tak ada bantahan atau cadangan lain dari mana-mana pihak, cuti-cuti Malaysia tahun ni akan diadakan di Pulau Pinang. Ramai antara kita yang belum pernah jejak kaki lagi ke pulau ni, and for the first time boleh la kita berfoya-foya dengan Sitot sekali! :) By the way, kalau nak maklumat lanjut, bley check out Penang kat sini.

Anyway, since all of you are quite busy this time of year, I took the liberty of scouting us a place to stay and coming up with a list of activities. But I need your input in this, because right now there are a lot of options and I'd like to narrow it down to something we all want.

So, take a few minutes to answer the following questions. And please do this as soon as you can, because I need to book us a place soon. Accommodations tend to fill up fast towards the end of the year. Bukan kita je yang nak cuti my frens.. ^^

1. How much are you guys willing to spend?

2. When will you guys be able to take leave, and for how long?

I know everyone's probably busy with all kinds of things. Technically, I'm busy too, but I need to get this out of the way so that I can focus on other pressing matters.

I know this is a little early, but I'm sort of in the middle of planning for our end of the year trip. Tahun lepas kita gi Pergau. Tahun ni, akak ingat nak pergi pulau Redang atau Perhentian. Tapi memandangkan akhir tahun adalah musim tengkujuh, niat tu terpaksa dibatalkan (sorry Cik Ann..)

Anyway, Hajar ada suggest kita gi Bukit Merah Laketown resort. You can find more info here. Accommodations dia agak mahal, mungkin kita boleh cari hotel murah kat luar..? Bukit Merah ada 3 themeparks, 2 of it nature oriented (ecopark and Orang utan island). Wut do you think?

Sila la bagi suggestions yer.. I'd really like to get you guys' opinions on this. Pergau was a lot of fun, but I don't know any other place like that, unless you all nak gi Chini. Pulau Banding is also very nice, dekat Belum Temenggor Forest Reserve, Perak.

Pagi itu tidak seperti biasa. Tidak indah seperti selalu. Dlm bersiap2 untuk ke lab, ada suasana yg riuh di luar. Sy fikir mgkn pendaftran pelajar baru bermula tapi sebaliknya. Namun, hati saya berkata ada yg aneh berlaku. Siap bertudung dan disapa rakan yg tinggal berhadapan bilik. Mukanya cemas dan gugup. Katanya "ada student terjatuh dr tingkat atas." Aku mula menggigil. "Dia dah meninggal. Dia jatuh kat tempat parking motosikal." Saat itu, aku mula memegang kuat tangan kanan yg terasa seakan kebas. Saya budak penakut. Semua orang tahu akan itu. Aneh, pada masa itu hati menjadi berani untuk melihat dan ingin tahu. Perlahan2 sy melangkah ke arah tangga. Sesampai saja di situ, sy gugup pabila mata sy memandang tepat pd jasad arwah yg ditutupi kain batik. Badan sy bertambah kuat menggigil dan jantung berdegup sangat laju. Tangan kanan yg tadi mula kebas terasa menggeletar.

Saya tidak dapat menceritakan dengan detail bagimana rupanya kerana pada saat ini sy sedang berusaha untuk memadamkan ingatan itu. Sy jadi tidak selesa kerana kejadian ini berlaku di kolej yg saya duduki. Lebih tidak best, hal ini berlaku di blok yg sy tinggal.

Setelah beristigfar beberapa kali, sy teringat kembali tujuan pagi itu. Sy perlu ke lab. Beg dan kunci kereta dicapai dengan cepat aku menuruni tangga. Aku terpaksa menggunakan tangga yg dekat dengan jasad arwah itu kerana itulah satunya laluan untuk turun ke bawah. Belum sempat sampai ke level bawah, telinga sy dapat menangkap satu suara. Suara perempuan menangis. Sangat sayu tapi perlahan dan sekejap. Namun, tiada sesiapa yg berdekatan dengan saya. Sy kuatkan hati dan berserah segalanya pada Yang Maha Esa. Langkah makin laju.

Tiada apa yang akan berlaku ke atas diri kamu (baik atau buruk) tanpa izin Allah.

Di bawah blok, ramai orang berkumpul. Bermacam ekspresi muka. Polis, forensik, pihak yuu key emm. Sy mahu cepat ke lab. Cukup lah dengan apa yg dah sy nampak dan dengar. Sy akan lebih tenang jika tidak berdekatan. Sesungguhnya, Allah lebih mengetahui kenapa dan bagaimana.

Kawin masa sambung belajar memang payah. Banyak cabaran. Banyak benda teknikal yang tak tercakai akal AKU.

Maaf, mulanya sudah dapatkan alamat dari Azhane. Mahu saja pos pada semua. Tapi apakan daya. Nak pergi pejabat pos pun tak sempat. Malah nak susun disiplin tandas dua kali sehari pun sudah tidak sempat. Maaf kotor sikit. Kalau tak nak take serious benda kotor tadi. Ambil sebagai analogi sahaja. Boleh?

Ini lah.

Untuk pendekkan perenggan, aku dengan ini melancarkan jemputan walimah fasa satu.

Walimah fasa satu ini bakal berlansung di Ipoh. Pada 20 Jun 2009. Pada 19 Jun 2009 aku bakal bernikah. Boleh datang dua dua majlis. Tapi, untuk hari nikah tu, aku takut kalau benda benda tak expect terjadi, seperti aku mungkin secara tak sengaja termenangis ke, jadi macam agak segan. Sesungguhnya, aku amat berbesar hati kalau kamu semua datang untuk semua majlis. Susah senang kita bersama kan? Happy ker. Nangis ker?

Ha, sekadar pengumuman, hari nikah nanti baju tema color putih dengan pink. Hari kenduri nanti baju merah darah. Kalau siapa siapa nak dapat seri pengantin, faham faham lah yer.

Aku saja tulis bagi tambah poyo. Sebab aku sebenarnya sangat takut ni. Tak senang duduk. Tak senang hati. Tak senang kepala. Tiba tiba rasa macam jantung nak pecah.

Aku simply jadi paranoid bila ada kawan aku tanya bab kitar haid semua. Aku mana tau?

Jadi aku mula google lah.

Ni tak masuk lagi bab financial after marriage. Bab nak kasi komitment kerja masing masing dan keluarga masing masing.

Aku fikir, hari 21 Jun 2009 tu aku nak kidnap Dayah pi Cameroon Highland ka untuk meeting dan dating. Bincang balik cara nak susun hidup. Aku nervous ni.

Dah lah tarikh 19, 20 dan 21 Jun 2009 tu boss aku buat Conference TB. Student kesayangan yang dibenci pulak tak boleh datang. Sila rujuk perengan pertama untuk faham situasi pada perengan ni.

How is everyone? Harapnya semua sihat-sihat dan happy-happy.. Akak sihat, just really missing you guys.. Last night for the first time in three weeks, akak dapat peluang jenguk internet. I figured, if I don't start keeping in touch with you people soon, I'm gonna miss out on more than just the demise of Pojan's infamous blog.. (-_-)

Maaf akak diamkan diri beberapa minggu ni. I know some of you tried to call (Pojan, Ati & Ann, thanks for the call and SMS! ^-^) tapi malangnya ofis akak tak condusif untuk line maxis. Nak ada line kena ke letak hp kat tingkap.. Maklum la hutan. For those waiting for me on blog or YM, it's going to take a while. FRIM ada policy against entertainment during work hours. Blog sites, youtube and YM off limits.. They really know how to effectively isolate their staff from the rest of the world... ^-^

It's also one of those embarrassing reasons why I'm blogging on email... please bear with me!

But to tell you the truth, I don't have much time for blogs or YM. Dari hari pertama tak habis-habis dengan meeting (7), workshop (2), kursus latihan (2) dan assignments (4). multi-tasking skill tak payah cakap. Nasib baik women are born to do it.

Tiap-tiap hari akak punch out lepas maghrib..

Itu baru tugasan in-house (dalaman). 20-23 april dekat kuala selangor masuk mangrove plots; 30 april meeting dengan press, buat demo harp trap & biopsi sampling; 10-15 mei dekat hutan simpan Pasoh untuk latihan teknikal ngan jabatan hutan (GIS, GPS, compass, mapping); 18-31 mei masuk gunung angsi 2 minggu tangkap kelawar; awal Jun gi forest complex belum temenggor untuk site and plot investigation. Seterusnya belum ada tarikh lagi, but the list goes on and on...

Cuti-cuti Malaysia without the cuti..

But I'm happy.. ^^ Dekat sini atmosphere dia lain sikit dari suasana akademik. People are actually knowledgeable and research methods sangat mantap. But they have high expectations of you, and they have no time for that saya budak baru belajar excuse. My supervisor keeps reminding me that she hired me because I can achieve things. So, the words I'm trying should never come out my mouth. I should be better than that.

Hari pertama briefing dah dapat beberapa amaran: 1). Punctuality 2). Individuality. 3). Never staying in the pantry area for more than 5 minutes. 4). No cliques. 5). Work smart with excellent results.

Dear Dr,

I hope you’re doing well. If you don’t mind, I have something I’d like to discuss with you.

I’ve been accepted for FRIM’s RAship Scheme and placed under the Zoology unit. My research area involves molecular studies of bats, and one of the project outcomes would be the formation of a barcode database of bat species, particularly from peninsular Malaysia’s Virgin Jungle Reserves (VJRs) where the samples are collected. The scheme will fully sponsor me for MSc at any university in Malaysia, including Sabah and Sawarak. My research project is funded by FRIM and GEF.

I’m currently looking for supervisors and a place to attach to for MSc, and Unimas is my first choice. Among the many Malaysian universities I’ve researched, Unimas has a broad range of expertise in zoology, and I’ve found the environment and academic community to be very positive and conducive to my needs (these insights I’ve gained through encouragements from Dr. Is, Br. Kamarul, and my involvements with e-ruai zoology).

The problem is that my overseer in FRIM seems to have reservations about Unimas. I’m not sure what her concerns are, but she asked me to look into Univ. Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and UKM instead. I’ve been to these campuses – I’ve visited UMT on several occasions and I’m currently finishing my RAship tenure in UKM. All I can say is that I do not prefer to be attached to either of these institutions at this point.

Dr, please advise on how I should go about finding a supervisor in Unimas for my project (if it’s at all possible, I’d love to work with you!). And if it’s not too much trouble, could I have a copy of your CV? I’d like to bring a strong case before FRIM and justify my reasons for choosing Unimas. My biggest concern is convincing my overseer. If she agrees, then everything else should fall into place.

It's been very political.. If they (your supervisors) don't like UNIMAS then just follow their their wish because its more important that you get the MSc.

This is the 2nd known case of FRIM not in favour of UNIMAS.

Hi Dr,

Your message made me sad, because I am honestly really interested in doing my MSc in UNIMAS.

FRIM does not have a problem with me being attached to UNIMAS. It's my supervisor. Initially she agrees that you are an expert in the zoology field, particularly bats. However, she later advised me against you when one of her academic supervisors expressed a less than favorable opinion of you.

Bottomline, molecular research isn't something simple (at least not to me). I need guidance so that I can learn well and contribute something useful. You are well aware of our universities' position in molecular research, and you're also aware of politics regarding UNIMAS. I don't know anything about politics. I'm just a student looking to find the best education. And though that may sound naive, I am the type to fight for what I think is best for me, and right now that is UNIMAS.

Wah! Meriah!~ Huhu.

Ingat nak update blog sniri. Tetiba ternampak blog ni. Dulu selalu bukak sunyi sepi je. Ingat ni pun takde update la. Lagipun sejak cuti blogging hari tu dah lama tak bukak blog kawan2. Rupa-rupanya dah banyak ketinggalan. Ampun maaf dipinta~ Huhu :p

Ok, a lil update!

Hidup sedikit sukar akhir-akhir ini. Tapi hari-hari esok macam makin sukar je... Nurul pun macam dah stress je. Tiap-tiap hari buat tudung gaya bibi indon. Muahaha. Tugas utama kat sini kena jaga kelas amali dan kena buat lab research. Tapi ni macam banyak sibuk dengan benda-benda lain je. Newsletter la website la pegi ladang la. Kelas amali tu terjaga la, tapi research tersangkut-sangkut sikit. Tu pun nasib baik amali tu ada beberapa orang lagi rakan sekerja. Pastu nak kena gi kenduri kawin lagi. Minggu ni saja dah ada 3 kenduri~ Petang semalam pun ponteng kerja pegi kenduri. Huhu. Sabtu ni plak our old classmate masa matrik azrul zabidi kawin kat penang. Tu pun ada 2 orang kawan lagi on the same day. Huh, can't please everyone~

Yep, sukar la nak puaskan semua orang. Nak puaskan diri sendiri lagi. Kerja ni pun nak kena puaskan ramai pihak. Everybody wants result. Tapi nak tak nak kena buat jugak. Bunyi macam stress je kan? Haha. Takde la stress sangat. Ntah, as always, in the end things are not as bad as u thought it'd be. Lagipun waktu kerja tak strict sangat. Dan tak perlu menempuhi traffic jam macam kat KL! Pegi kerja paling-paling lama pun 10 minit je. Sila jeles! Haha. And of course, everybody here is nice, so I really can't complain much. It's nice to be here! (^_^) I'm sure I'm on the right track, I'm just not sure whether I'm at the right pace. Macam biasa la, suka bertangguh, siapkan kerja last minute. Ni pun banyak kerja bertimbun tertangguh. Nak siapkan on weekends, tiap2 hujung minggu pulak takde kat umah. Anyhow, gotta speed things up a bit, I guess. Kerja!~ Kerja!~ Cuma takut nanti tak disambung kontrak je :p Hahaha. Nauzubillah~

Okay, that's all for now, guys. Oh, btw, nurul sekarang makin keji dan poyo. Muahahahaha :D

Anyway, this is Aminah Zulfa (named after her paternal grandmother) doing some reading session with her aunt. She is my second niece and an absolute apple of my eye. I still remember looking after her when she was a wee toddler, as her mom had to go to a seminar or something. I practically looked after her 9/5 (when her dad was out to work), giving her milk, putting on the Einstein CD to make her sleep, and played with her. And my wasn't she a pleasure to behold.

She has grown now, almost catching up to her big sister Aqilah Auni, apparently a tad wilder now too (she likes to just collapse on the floor if she doesn't get what she wants, and she could give you a slap if she thinks you deserve it :p).

But yes, it's the big smile and those sparkly eyes which tug my heart every time. My favorite moment with her? Just when she wakes up from sleep and as she searches the room and she catches your eyes, she will give you the widest, the warmest, and the most beautiful smile you feel like you could melt right away. Seriously, I think it's my two nieces who taught me how to love again, with my whole heart.

My Safe Haven

I told Mun I would put up the pictures once I finished (technically speaking) furnishing my room. I had gone all out this time because (1) I'm going to stay here until the end of my course, which means about 9 months away, (2) unlike the last house, this apartment allows me to fully express myself, hence I practically put in stuffs to the best of my liking, and finally (3) anyone who knows me knows I'm quite big on having my own space - so yeah.

Apart from the bed and the desk and the swiveling chair, I bought all items from eBay. Some are a real deal (like the lamp on my desk I bought it for 8 AUD and the arm chair for 50 AUD), while others are brand new and pretty much the same as buying off the store. Nevertheless, despite having to settle with the brand-new, mass-produced stuff, the antique lamp on the bedside table for example, although a bit costly (AUD 26), is something I couldn't resist.

So yeah, this is practically my attempt to create the shabby, country look of my room, the place for me everyday, where I go online, read books, or practice my guitar (you can see the handle of my guitar at the side of the chair).

It's a drag my quilt didn't really fit in, but let's not go overboard with the spending now shall we? I already have a problem with my money management as every week on my way back from my guitar lesson I pass a second hand book store and I always seem to fall to temptation. But alas!

Mama-to-be Isma, bukan niat nak menyepi tanpa cerita tapi a lot of things happened and I got my hands full. Somehow I'm still breathing. Yeahh...i'm a survivor!

Mun, lama benor kao tido yea? Alih-alih udah mampir ke UPM. Tahniah! Before that, ada lebih baik kalo kao dapat belajar sedikit ilmu menghindar diri dari heart attack or kidney failure. Hehe...lah ni aku tengah meng'apply' semua tu untuk MSc kat UKM.

Arshana and Yati, don't hang out too long but don't let go too soon key! Saya doakan siang malam yang paling baik untuk kamu berdua di luar sana.

Citot, apa cer???last message kao tanya aku berapa watt elektrik seterika guna?jadik aku assumed kao sibuk mengira bil TNB bagi. Bila nak ke UKM? You still haven't changed ehh? gahaha

Nurul, kawan saya yang paling 'baik' dan beriman antara semua. Awak pasti ok kan di UDM? itu tak termasuk suka pakai baju warna 'pudorr' je. Kerja banyak? Sometimes you have to say NO to certain people dan buat yang termampu key...jangan paksa diri...Go Go Power Tok Batin!

Pojan, biasa nye scope scholarship yang saya cakap dengan nya. Tapi saya tau biasiswa KPT/UMP dah masuk kan? Tak tahu kenapa, awak selalu setapak lebih depan dari saya no matter how hard i tried. Luppi pernah cakap camni "Pojan lain cerita, itu dah rezeki dia." Betul jugak kan? Keep up your pace my dear friend!

Luppi, heyy...still hot stuff as usual eh? Sampai kat UDM pung? (nurul bgtau). Kalo kat UMT mesti lagi glamerrr dari saya. I heard alot of things bout you lately. Bila la agaknya nak dengar cerita dari awak sendiri yerk? Ehemm...

Oh yaaa...tentang Dark Story of Mine tu, agaknya saya tak leh nak teruskan menulis. Atas sebab-sebab menjaga nama baik semua pihak terutama yuu emm tee. Tak kira macam mana layanan yang diberikan pada saya, mereka tetap insan2 yang bertanggungjawab menolong saya.

It’s been a while kan? Life is pretty hectic la sekarang ni. Since the other day Isma asked “Kenapa kau menyepi Mun?”, so I thought, I might tell you guys what I’m up to these days. First off, I had the chance to listen to a short talk by Prof. Craig Williams of University of Wolverhampton this morning. He’s a visiting professor at my faculty. An expert in zeolite. I must say, I wish I could be like him. I convinced myself that once I got my PhD, I’ll probably be able to talk like him. It’s not easy to inspire people right? Way to go Craig!

Oh, last Saturday, I watched Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical! Again! Worth every single cent I spent on the ticket. Tiara is amazing as always and Stephen Rahman Hughes a.k.a. Hang Tuah is perfect! What can I say? He made me swoon! I actually believed that he was singing to me instead of Gusti Putri. I could practically see every crease on his face as he sings. That’s how close we were. Hehe. Arshana, wish you were here girl.

Insya-Allah, this July I’ll begin my MSc at UPM. Can’t wait! Excited giler ni! Pray for me will you? I miss life as a student…..What else ya? Itu je la kot. I’m signing off. Petang ni my students ada test. So, I have to get ready. Adios!

Rumah Baharu Saya

I thought I might membuat kacau di sini and introduce to you guys my lovely new house. For your information, I've already moved in to the university apartment, which is closer to uni and shopping areas. It feels more like a student establishment, I must say.

The above is the living hall cum dining room. Notice the plastered walls, it's filled with pictures and various posters about social change and safe sex. I know, it might sound daunting at the first mention, but I've learnt to accept it as a fact of life (it is a fact of life, right?). There's also the United Nations flags we recently purchased on our trip to the weekend market. Notice the purple and pink pom poms? I did it to give a feminine touch to the house, I brought the flowers too at the beginning of my stay, as an offering of peace to the my new house members. I particularly adore the grandpa chair, and I spend most of my time working on the white couch. We usually spend our evenings watching news or movies while having our dinner. I'm being endlessly fed, unfortunately, as one of my housemate is a chef, and Fred from Italy likes to cook his own food. So think pasta, cream, cheese, and all those things which conveniently increases the number on the weighing scale.

We have a modest backyard, and I am lucky to be placed on the ground floor as we gain access to the greenery and the occasional visit of possums. My housemates usually spend their time smoking at the backyard, while it's my favorite spot for breakfast, reading and writing at the little round table.

New Year's Eve Self-Introspection

The trip to Pergau was perfect, I will not be able to post the pictures as I haven't collected them from Pojan and Nurul, but I will tell you this, it was the needed break for all of us.

To Arshana (Happy Belated Birthday!), Isma, and Mun, all of you girls are very much missed!

Now, I'm bored and in dire need of continuous useless ramblings. So I decided to dig deeper in myself and complete the following tag:

1. What's your ambition?
The most important right now is to discover the direction of my spiritual self. Seriously, I'm lost.

2. Who is more important for you. friend or boy/girl friend?
I don't have a boyfriend. But if money is not an object, I would run miles for either of them. I think I have, but I lost my battle too once in a while.

3. How often do you think of commiting suicide?
I used to think about it a lot a couple of years back, but thankfully I was too coward to actually do it. But these days I hardly think about it at all. I love my life, and I love everyone and everything that's in it I'm not prepared to leave them on my own will.

4. Do you think you have enough confidence?
I think I have enough confidence to get what I dream and set to to do. But I don't think I have enough confidence to actually say I love you to people who matters the most in my life.

5. How many babies do you want?
I don't think I'm cut out to be the selfless, nurturing mother. But if I ever get to do it, I want 2 girls, so they can be friends with each other, and a boy for him to be a brother to them both.

6. Favourite perfume/fragrance?
I never really had a preference, I wear whichever smells nice. I am not big on splurging on perfume as well. The one I use so far tend to stick around Body Shop's Spring Orchid.

7. What's your goal for this year?
Finish my Master's degree, and try out for PhD application for the following year. Save 30% (10-10-10) of my scholarship (I'm on 15% at the moment). Be nicer to people.

8. Do you believe in eternal love?
Oh yes I do. But I believe in the perfect love which is worked and drilled on, not a given, happily ever after eternal love.

9. What's a perfect partner to you?-list 10
Oh God, I think after a while, I really get tired of this. If it's left to me, no one will ever get near perfect! Anyway, I'll list a few; Someone who has enormous dreams and astounding zest for life, someone who is not afraid to be who he is, and someone who can discern between meaningful and superficial. Is that too much to ask?

10. What feeling do you love most?
In the morning when I wake up knowing what I'm doing in life, knowing there're people I love who loves me, and knowing I'll not spend today searching for that empty space in my heart where God is still nowhere to be found.

11. What is your bad habit?
I am sometimes too vain to make the effort to be nice to people.

12. Is there anything you want to tell people that hate you?
I don't think about them. Because seriously, I might hate them too. So why make things worse?

13. Do you cherish every single friendship of yours?
Yes I do. For me friendship is something I build and invest over time, it's not something I simply collect to put in my portfolios. For the record, I still hate Facebook to this day for its superficiality, but I don't know why I'm still in it. I'm working on quitting.

14. Describe yourself?
I love books, everyone knows that. I'm also confused, I think everyone knows that too.

15. What do you crave the most currently?
Finding my ways to God.

16. What's currently on your mind?
I haven't worked on my final Media Advocacy assignment yet. I need to interview people, volunteers anyone?

17. What would you really like to do, like right now?
Physically, clean myself and take a bath. But deep down inside, I want to talk to my best friend.

18. What will you become in another 10 years to come?
Let's see, I will be 33 by then. The Director General of the Department of Environment, I hope?

19. What do you hate the most?
Not being able to change things. Especially my dirty hometown.

20. Who else do you want to answer these?
My friends, if they have the time.

A Weekend Away

Kawan-kawan,

Ambiklah cuti, jom kita pergi Tasik Chini. Stay a couple of days there. Just us.

The cost will take about 15-20/night.

God, so many changes around. I would really love to talk to you girls.

How does the weekend of New Year's sounds to you guys? Say between 27-29 December 2008? I could pick you up from Kuantan Terminal, and we could all head to Tasik Chini in one car from there.

So far Nurul and Mun have almost confirmed they could make it, and Pojan as well. I can handle the bookings once everything is confirmed.

I have also talked to Kak Sofie and Ann, diorang cakap insya Allah the date is almost convenient for them as well.

I'll try to confirm with everyone so that I can make the room bookings before I left for Johor.

Dark Story of Mine --- Part 1

N: “We don’t need people like you here.”

M: “This faculty already has few people doing exactly the same field. To be clear, we have 3 tutors doing their Masters and 2 lecturers completing their PhD overseas. And I don’t wish you to be their rivals.”

M: “I can see your degree in biotechnology but we are all here doing basic science and I don’t think there is a place for you here.”

A: “Actually madam, I didn’t apply being under this faculty but it was mentioned in the letter.”

The atmosphere started to tensed a little and I’m getting confused. Start to blame myself. I’m not supposed to be here after all.

N: “So, we decide that you’re going to do bioinformatics since I can see you got an A for the subject.”

N: “But still I don’t know why you’re here. You are not supposed to be here. Not in this faculty. Well, if something comes out for example we might not need you working under this faculty but at least you can still survive with your bioinformatics.”

M: “When you’re graduated?”

A: “Aaa…actually I’m still working on my thesis.”

M: “Ohh…you haven’t graduated yet? So, how this happened? I don’t get it at all. Oh my, you’re full of charms.”

N: “Did they pay you being a fellow? How much?”

A: “Ahh..yes. About **** per month.”

N: “Beruntung budak2 sekarang. Belum graduate tapi dah ada orang nak bagi duit. Senang betul hidup!

Mungkin ini perbualan biasa tapi untuk saya ianya berbau dengan tekanan dan sindiran. Termampu untuk senyum dan senyap pada waktu itu. Oh my! Things are not going like I plan. Apabila diceritakan pada sahabat2 yang yang sudi menemani saya pada hari itu, mereka terkedu. At that moment, I can sense something awful will occur.

Sabtu lepas, sempena meraikan pemergian mak abah aku ke tanah suci, Wan (nenek) buat kenduri tahlil dan doa selamat di kampung kami di Tampin, Negri Sembilan. Tah kenapa, walaupun sibuk menjaga atuk yang sakit, Wan tak mahu ambil katering. Dia berkeras juga nak masak hidangannya sendiri, dengan lauk pauknya yang empat lima macam; ayam merah, ayam gulai, ikan tenggiri masak lemak cili api, gulai labu, pajeri udang, acar nenas, bla, bla, bla...

Dah anak menantu perempuannya ramai, kitaorang pun turutkan saja.

Pagi hari kenduri, selaku cucu sulung yang menurut perintah, aku dan Pura ikut mama ke pasar basah Tampin. Seperti biasa, aku la drebar. sampai di parking lot pasar (or tanah lapang berlopak, if you prefer), aku mula mencari slot sesuai, a.k.a tanah rata yang kering. Di sebelah kereta kami ada sebuah kereta Waja. Aku jenguk ke dalam, ada anak jantan belasan tahun melesa di driver's seat main handphone. Berdasarkan enjinnya yang masih hidup dan keadaan cuaca yang maha terik, sah la aircond dia full blast..

Sambil kunci pintu kereta, hati aku ngomel: Tu dia! Anak perempuan malang mana la yang duk pi biar mak dia mengangkut barang sorang-sorang dalam pasar tuh..

Mak aku bergegas ke dewan yang bingitnya macam hurungan ribuan lalat. Mulutnya pun lebih kurang sama, menyuruh aku cepat, cepat dan cepat lagi. Aku dan Pura berlari anak menurut, bila aku ternotice sesuatu yang buat aku mati langkah.

Satu... dua... tiga... empat, lima... MasyaAllah!

Aku baru sedar, satu parking lot tu dipenuhi kereta yang setiapnya dihuni khusus kaum adam! Jangan nak kata anak orang; bapak orang, atuk orang pun ada. Semua dengan aksi-aksi tersendiri: yang membaca, yang membuta, yang bergayut.. Yang pastinya, semua nyaman dalam aircond. Tak macam anak, kakak atau isteri yang berasak-asak di luar.

Aku memandang kelibat mama yang makin jauh. Ma, nasib kamu pun sama...

Sampai di pasar, aku order tujuh ekor ayam, pastu terus ke area sayur. Mata aku meliar, mengira bilangan lelaki yang ada. Beberapa kerat yang aku nampak semuanya golongan veteran. Biasa la tu. Wan aku pun baru sekarang ini pandai ke pasar. Dulu, atuk yang menguruskan semua. Wan hanya tinggal memasak dan menghidang.

Which I think is fair... Dulu isteri di rumah, suami bawa pulang rezeki hari. Sekarang isteri pun cari rezeki hari-hari, isteri pun ke pasar, isteri pun masak... camana tu? bayangkan mengangkut ayam, ikan, sayuran dan barang-barang dapur, all in one go. It's hell, take it from someone who does it on her own every other week!

Tak apa lah. Agaknya wanita zaman ini makin penyayang...

Haish, serabut. Sedang aku memilih daun ketumbar, Pura menyiku. bibirnya menjuih ke arah luar pasar. Ada pasangan muda hand in hand memilih kentang. "Tu, tu... endangered species!"

Aku tergelak. Ah, rupanya adik aku pun perasan situasi di parking lot. Melihat pasangan macam ni, normally aku pasti ngomel, get your own room! Tapi, dengan perang perasaan aku pagi ni, such views were a welcome sight. Sedang aku asyik meneliti, Pura menyiku aku lagi.

My Workspace

I got tagged by Kak Aini to put the picture of my workplace. Since I'm not working yet, I suppose my study desk shall suffice. This is where I do all my assignments, write my article, get online, and watch my movies. It's basically my lifeline. Truth be told, I haven't done much works lately, which I think partly can be attributed to the massive social circles and activities I'm building lately. Furthermore, I live with a roommate. So trying to write peacefully and be in 'my elements' is almost always a vain attempt. You see, creativity and people doesn't seem to work out together in my case.

So, on the subject of my workplace. Here's the breakdown of its components:

The board I bought at the beginning of the semester. I accustom myself to pasting things which inspire me on the walls, but since I'm renting, I'm not allowed to damage the walls. It was partially filled now because I had removed most of the things after my final exam.
The red tumbler is my long-serving coffee cup. In the winter, it retains heat for almost an hour for my coffee or tea, which is convenient since the cold weather rips off the heat almost instantly every time I try to drink hot coffee or tea.
NIVEA lotion which I use faithfully after bath in the morning and night.
The corner for books change with whatever work I need to complete at the moment. Right now it's a bunch of books from Lonely Planet, Rough Guides on Australia and several DVDs I picked up from downstair.
As you can peek in the drawer, there are 5 DVDs I'm renting, a package of cookies and my collection of magazines.
My laptop and the headphone, of course, which renders everything comprehensible.

That's it, not much of a workplace if I may say. And I'll moving out of the house soon, so you can expect a new workplace in a month!

It has been pretty quite out here since my 'ranting'. Ahem. Anyway, just want to take this opportunity to wish all you guys out there, Ann, Hajar, Isma, Lutfi, Mun, Nurul, Sitot, Kak Sofie & Yati, Selamat Hari Raya & maaf zahir batin. :D

I hope you guys have a great Raya with family, while having tasty food and delicious cookies. Can you sense resentment? :P Nah, just kidding! Have a great time!
