How Do You Start Off Your Day?

There comes a point in your work life when you're swamped with works and redundant tasks, starting off in the morning drives you with anxiety and to the point of a manic depression. How do you deal with it?
 
How do you clear the clutter in your mind and go within yourself to get that calming "I'm-in-control" feeling?
 
Especially when you're so tired the night before you always end up waking up at mere 7 a.m. and before you know it you're so rushed to start your day again you don't realize when exactly did it begins? In between work, I'm still searching and scrambling how can I find my ways back to get a hold of my emotional and spiritual self.
 
How do you guys cope?

By the way Yati, didn't I tell you that I'm practically dragging myself to work everyday? But I found that chanting "Keep calm and carry on' helps a lot. Haha~ It's a matter of finding your niche and then you'll be just fine. Nampaknya,kita mmg kena revive Catalyst Inc tu. I bet if we do, hari-hari kita akan bersemangat nak pegi kerja! Kan? *wink,wink*

Seriously, kita mmg nak kena buat koperasi, or SOMETHING.. something to occupy our minds other than this 9-5 wormhole we're all stuck in!

But about getting in control..

I think you know how to do this though, Ati. Remember back at UIA? you were the most organized, critical person I know.. and I can tell you now, that is what you need to survive office life.

Until Catalyst Inc., that is.. :p

I just think you've become such a carefree soul, you've forgotten your 'tougher' self! (~_^)

How I deal? it takes time to get used to it, but I start with learning to set a few very simple next-day goals before bed. My planner has a section labelled 'activities checklist' and eversince I did this, it's running out of pages fast.. (=_=)

But it's worth it. At least you don't start work feeling swamped, because you know what your tasks are for the day. AND, it also helps to give yourself a deadline. That way you'll know when to finish, and it also gives you a boost when you're done early (this is what I mean by setting 'simple' goals..)

Routines also help.. something you like to do outside of work. Like music lessons, or swimming, or meeting friends (hey, we're always available..) This helps with the emotional, and spiritual.. :)

And.. I think this is already a lot! ^^

Kak Sofie, sy pun buat checklist mcm akak jgk!! And it works! It boosts my spirit when I completed each task. Kalau tak hari2 rasa mcm suffocating kat lab ni hahaha

Mun,

Betul, having a mantra helps a lot. And mine is, among others;
"This is MY chance."
"This is where I am, this is where I'm going to be for a certain amount of time."

And about finding myself a niche, I think I'm discovering it bit by bit. I certainly love my job, I do. I think what I need is that driving force every morning to remind myself why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Guess what? I found thinking about Catalyst Inc. and the potential knowledge and experiences I'm going to bring to it eventually really motivates me to keep working and learning more in my current job! :)

Haha, I've become such a carefree soul am I? You're right though. When I was doing my Master's degree, I think I sourced a lot of my energy from people around me (much to the contrary of my previous self in UIA!).

I actually missed having conversations with people every time I come home from work these days, isn't that unlike me? But nonetheless, I've come to appreciate human companions!
